My Therapeutic Style & Approach

As an immigrant from Pakistan who has raised a family in the U.S., I understand firsthand the unique challenges of balancing cultural roots with the nuances of life in America. This experience guides my work with clients, especially immigrant parents and couples.

With parents, especially those raising American-born children, I see the struggles that arise when cultural roots feel at odds with modern parenting. Many parents fear losing their values, while their children may feel misunderstood or disconnected from their heritage.

My approach is culturally sensitive and strengths-based, offering a supportive space to explore these complexities, heal misunderstandings, and develop parenting strategies that bridge the cultural gap. I help parents honor their traditions while fostering an environment where children can thrive authentically.

You know yourself better than anyone, and my role is to help you expand on your inner strengths—even those you may not recognize yet.

In sessions, clients often express relief at having a therapist who “gets it” and who respects the deep influence culture has on family and personal identity. I use an integrative approach, blending elements of family systems and relational therapies to support you in building meaningful, resilient connections. My goal is to help you feel understood, empower you to make choices aligned with your true self, and support you in creating a fulfilling life that honors both who you are and where you come from.

It’s important to go at your pace, allowing you to express your feelings and experiences in a way that feels natural and safe. I believe the best therapy is guided by your knowledge, your language, and your vision.
