Are You Struggling With Complex South or East Asian Family Dynamics?

Virtual Therapy for South/East Asian Families in Texas

Family is at the core of South Asian and East Asian cultures, but the expectations, traditions, and dynamics can sometimes feel overwhelming.

You feel caught between your individual desires and the needs or demands of your family.

Balancing intergenerational conflicts, navigating strict cultural roles, or dealing with the pressure to live up to family expectations, these experiences can leave you feeling stuck, confused, or emotionally drained.

DO YOU FIND YOURSELF THINKING:

  • "I carry the weight of my family’s expectations, even though they don't fit who I am."

  • "I’m struggling with patterns of fear, shame, or self-doubt that I don’t understand."

  • "It feels like I can’t fully step into my life because of unspoken family rules or norms."

  • "I feel disconnected from my own identity because I’ve been focused on pleasing my family."

  • "There’s a gap between me and my parents; we see the world so differently, and it causes pain."

Our Non-Traditional Approach

We know that the BIPOC experience, particularly within South and East Asian communities, requires a different approach.

Our non-traditional model of therapy is designed with an understanding of the complexities that come from living between cultures and generations.

You have a space where you can explore the weight of family expectations, generational trauma, and identity without needing to educate your therapist on cultural nuances—we just "get it.”

Our approach is deeply relational and client-focused, which means we go at your pace. You will tap into your strengths, many of which may have been passed down through generations, and use them as resources for healing.

Our goal is to empower you to break cycles of trauma, set realistic boundaries, and live a life that aligns with your values, not just those of your family or culture.

We honor where you come from, but we focus on where you want to go.

Our Team

At Intentional Therapy PLLC, we specialize in providing culturally-attuned, non-traditional therapy for BIPOC individuals, particularly those from South and East Asian backgrounds. Founded in March 2021 by Parthi B. Patel, a first-generation South Asian American, our practice understands the unique challenges faced by first- and second-generation individuals, such as bi-cultural identity struggles and intergenerational trauma.

We’ve created a space where you don’t have to explain your culture—our therapists ‘just get it,’ because we’ve lived it.

We have since expanded our practice to include other mental health professionals. Each of our therapists has unique areas of specialization and expertise, allowing us to collaborate and provide a range of care to individuals, couples, families, and organizations.”
